MADISON, N.J. – Despite a second half surge, the Drew University field hockey team fell 2-0 to cross-town rival FDU-Florham Wednesday afternoon in Ranger Stadium. The Rangers were held without a shot in the first half but found a spark in the second period, making several runs on offense.
The Difference: FDU-Florham controlled possession in the first half, firing off 16 shots and forcing the Drew defense to work non-stop. The Devils were able to put a goal in the back of the cage in the fifth minute on a redirected shot to go up 1-0, which would be the score at the intermission. FDU added an insurance goal in the 45th minute, converting off a penalty corner.
Top Performers: Senior goalie
Ryann Callaghan collected six saves for Drew while facing a 21-shot attack. Junior midfielder
