Late Goals Lift Men's Soccer in Landmark Opener

TOWSON, Md. – Junior Ian Sawicki scored in the 69th minute, and it held up as the game-winning goal as the Drew University men's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory at Goucher College in its Landmark Conference (LC) opener Saturday afternoon. Senior Max Correa added a tally with 11 seconds left as the Rangers (7-2, 1-0 LC) won their fourth game in a row.

The Difference: Although Drew outshot Goucher 14-6 over the opening 68 minutes, the scoreboard read 0-0 before Sawicki broke through with his first collegiate goal. The Ranger defense did the rest, holding the Gophers (0-7-1, 0-1 LC) without a shot the rest of the way.

Stout Defense: The Blue and Green allowed just six shots for the game en route to their fourth shutout of the season. All three Goucher shots on goal were saved by junior Jason Adamo, who collected his fourth clean sheet of the year.

Stats Sheet: Drew finished with advantages in shots (19-6) and corner kicks (9-5). The Rangers were whistled for one more foul (10-9) than the Gophers. Daniel Hendry made 12 saves for the hosts.

Next Up: The Rangers resume their schedule on Tuesday, when they visit New York University at 7 p.m. in a non-conference tilt.
