MADISON, N.J. - The 12th-ranked Drew University men's soccer team captured the Battle of Madison Avenue for the fourth year in a row, topping cross-town rival FDU-Florham 6-0 Wednesday evening at Ranger Stadium. Turning Point: The Rangers took command in the opening half, when they jumped to a 3-0 lead. The Blue and Green received all the scoring they would need when Cserhat finished off a cross from Velazquez in the fourth minute. Cserhat would find the back of the net once again just five minutes later, scoring unassisted. Jason Adamo capped the opening half with a tremendous save, leaping high to swat away a well-struck direct kick with less than five minutes left.
Top Performers: Cserhat posted his second two-goal outing in three matches to start the season. Velazquez, who also scored in 66th minute, registered his first career multi-goal performance. Juniors
Tyler Kwaak (63') and
Andy Imoh (88') added one second-half goal apiece to help cement the victory. Adamo finished with three saves to notch his second shutout of the season.
Stat Sheet: The Rangers outshot the Devils 29-5 and finished with a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
