MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's basketball team outscored Goucher College 38-16 in the second half and defeated the Gophers 68-41 in a Landmark Conference (LC) match-up Saturday afternoon in Baldwin Gym.
How it Happened: Drew led just 30-25 at the half and 37-31 midway through the third quarter. But that's when the hosts broke the game open with a 12-1 run, sparked by back-to-back 3-pointers by senior guard
Hailey Stine and sophomore guard Ramos, to open up a 17-point lead in the final minute of the period. Drew continued to pull away in the final quarter, when it outscored the Gophers 18-7. The Rangers trailed just once in the first half and opened the game on an 18-5 run, only to see Goucher (5-10, 0-4 LC) rally with an 11-0 run to climb back into it.
Top Performers: Ramos celebrated her birthday in style for the Rangers (9-5, 2-2 LC), posting 20 points, five assists, and four steals. She netted her second-highest point total of the season and her third career 20-point outing. Stine contributed 12 points on 4-of-8 3-point shooting while freshman forward
Nashdah Noel contributed season-highs of nine points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore forward
Erin Frederick and senior forward
Sarah Henig pulled down eight rebounds apiece.
Stat Sheet: Drew shot 38.5 percent from the field while holding Goucher to 32.1 percent. The Rangers held a decisive 51-28 rebounding advantage, as all 11 players who entered the game grabbed at least one board, and outscored the Gophers 14-0 in second-chance points. The Blue and Green forced 21 turnovers and came up with 16 steals.
