Men’s Basketball Rallies Again for Road Victory at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – For the second game in a row, the Drew University men's basketball team used a second-half rally to post a Landmark Conference (LC) victory on the road. This time, it was an 88-84 victory at Susquehanna University, where the Rangers trailed by eight midway through the second half. Senior guard Darius Reiter (22 points, seven rebounds) and senior forward Nate Aldrich (20 points, seven rebounds) led Drew (11-3, 3-0 LC), which now finds itself alone atop the Landmark standings. The Blue and Green also rallied from a 12-point deficit for a victory at Juniata College this past Saturday.

How it Happened: The Rangers trailed 69-61 with 9:17 remaining before embarking on their comeback with a 16-2 run. Aldrich powered the surge for Drew, scoring 11 points during the stretch. The River Hawks (9-5, 2-1 LC) pulled to within two on three occasions down the stretch but were unable to reclaim the lead. Reiter drained back-to-back 3-pointers with less than three minutes left before senior forward Sky Harris nailed a jumper in the lane. Harris later hit 1-of-2 free throws with 24 seconds left to make it an 86-83 game before junior guard Cole Hanntz came up with a big steal with nine ticks showing. However, Reiter missed a pair of free throws two seconds later before Susquehanna went 1-for-2 at the line with two ticks showing, making it 86-84. Harris split a pair of foul shots with one second left to set the final score. The River Hawks led by as much as seven midway through the first half, but the Rangers trailed just 41-38 at the break.
