Balanced Effort Vaults Field Hockey Over Bryn Athyn

MADISON, N.J. - Five different Rangers figured into the scoring column and the Drew University field hockey team cruised to a 6-0 victory over Bryn Athyn College in a non-conference match Wednesday evening at Ranger Stadium.

Sophomore April Serratelli scored two goals while seniors Madyson Griswold and Casey Quinn notched one goal and one assist apiece for the Rangers, who out-shot the Lions 26-0. Senior Sami Strathern added a pair of assists.

The Rangers wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as Griswold buried a shot just 28 seconds into the contest. She took a feed from Strathern and connected from the right elbow for her first goal of the season and second tally of her career.

Drew would strike two more times before the end of the opening quarter. Serrattelli took a long pass from Griswold that deflected off the goalie and tapped it into the cage midway through the period, then with just six ticks showing, Quinn drilled home a rebound for her first collegiate goal, making it 3-0.

The Rangers tacked on one more goal in the opening half, as sophomore Jinah Cappuccino knocked in a rebound with 5:03 showing to give Drew a 4-0 halftime advantage.

Serrattelli netted her second goal early in the third quarter, connecting from just inside the arc off a dish from Strathern. Sophomore Amber Frikkee set the final score, just beating the buzzer off an assist from Quinn for her first collegiate goal.

Junior Joie Slossar was credited with the shutout for the Rangers while Alisha Parnell stopped eight shots for Bryn Athyn (1-12).

Drew (3-15) closes out the season on Saturday, when it hosts Susquehanna University in a Landmark Conference tilt at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
