Big Second Half Lifts Susquehanna Over Rangers

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - After a scoreless opening half, Susquehanna University scored three goals in the second period to hand the Rangers a 3-1 Landmark Conference (LC) setback in their season finale on Saturday.

With the loss, Drew closes out the season with a record of 8-9 and a Landmark Conference mark of 3-4. They finish the season with their highest victory total since 2015 and their most conference wins since 2014.

Susquehanna (14-3-1, 6-1 LC), which finished the regular season first in the Landmark standings, out-shot the Rangers 5-1 in the opening period, but freshman Angela Accetturo made a pair of saves for Drew. However, the River Hawks went ahead just over a minute into the second stanza, as Gillian Mack scored off a cross.

Marley Clendenin provided an insurance tally for Susquehanna in the 79th minute with a shot from 25 yards out, but the Rangers refused to go away. Junior Julia Caracappa scored in the 85th minute, converting a feed from senior Sydney Ziemba for her first goal at Drew. However, the Hawks answered just over a minute later on a goal from Anna Werner to set the final score.

Accetturo made two more saves in the second half to finish with four for the night.
