MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team rallied late to cut a seven-goal deficit down to three, but the comeback ran out of time as Vassar College defeated the Rangers 10-6 in Drew's home opener Saturday afternoon at Ranger Stadium.

Brendan Hamm, who made it a 9-6 game at the 3:32 mark. Drew received a man-up opportunity less than a minute later and put a shot on goal, but Vassar came up with the save before icing the game with its final goal.
• O'Connor kept the Rangers in contention with Drew's first two tallies. He snapped a 4-0 Vassar run to open the game, then stopped a 3-0 Brewer spurt with his second goal that made it a 7-2 game with 30 seconds left in the third quarter. Vassar answered with the next two goals before Drew's late comeback.

• O'Connor finished with three goals and one assist while Goettlich ended the day with a pair of tallies and one helper.
• Junior goalie
Nate Sanders made 16 saves for the second game in a row to open the season for Drew. He also picked up four ground balls, as did senior
Ryan Connors.

Vassar finished with a 47-31 shot advantage and won 14 of 19 face-offs. Drew's man-down unit held the Brewers scoreless on four extra-man opportunities.
