Men’s Lacrosse Rallies, But Falls to Vassar

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team rallied late to cut a seven-goal deficit down to three, but the comeback ran out of time as Vassar College defeated the Rangers 10-6 in Drew's home opener Saturday afternoon at Ranger Stadium.

Highlights
• Trailing 9-2 early in the fourth quarter, the Rangers came storming back with a 4-0 run on a pair of goals from junior Kevin Goettlich and one apiece from junior Seamus O'Connor and senior Brendan Hamm, who made it a 9-6 game at the 3:32 mark. Drew received a man-up opportunity less than a minute later and put a shot on goal, but Vassar came up with the save before icing the game with its final goal.
• O'Connor kept the Rangers in contention with Drew's first two tallies. He snapped a 4-0 Vassar run to open the game, then stopped a 3-0 Brewer spurt with his second goal that made it a 7-2 game with 30 seconds left in the third quarter. Vassar answered with the next two goals before Drew's late comeback.
