Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Aldrich Grabs 20 Rebounds as Conference-Leading Rangers Top E-town

MADISON, N.J. – Senior forward Nate Aldrich tied a career-high with 20 rebounds and the Drew University men's basketball team retained their one-game lead for first place in the Landmark Conference (LC) standings with 76-65 victory over Elizabethtown College on Saturday. Four players scored in double figures for the Rangers (18-5, 10-2 LC), who remain undefeated (5-0) in Baldwin Gym this season and have now posted their best record in program history through 23 games.

How it Happened: Drew assumed control early in the game with a 19-9 run to open the contest. The Rangers would endure a scoring drought of nearly six minutes as the Blue Jays (10-12, 5-7 LC) trimmed the deficit to one. However, the hosts would answer with 17 points over the final seven minutes of the half and took a 36-32 lead into the locker room. Drew used an 8-0 spurt midway through the second half to open up a 12-point cushion. Senior guard Darius Reiter and senior forward Sky Harris kicked off the surge with back-to-back 3's before junior guard Cole Hanntz dropped in a lay-up to make it 53-41 with 12:28 left. E-town would cut the deficit in half (61-55) with 6:19 to go, but that's as close as the visitors would get. The Rangers salted the win at the foul line, where Collins and Reiter each went 2-for-2 in the final 43 seconds.

Top Performers: Aldrich, who tore down 14 of his boards in the second half, tied his previous career-best set versus FDU-Florham during his freshman season. The 20 rebounds are tied for the sixth-most in school history. He also scored 13 points while posting his 10th double-double of the season. Collins netted 18 points while Reiter registered 12 points and eight rebounds. Senior forward Sky Harris added 13 points off the bench for the Rangers while Connor Moffatt led the Blue Jays with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Stat Sheet: Drew shot 47.5 percent from the field while holding E-town to 36.8 percent shooting. Both teams finished with just nine turnovers while the Jays held a 44-41 rebounding edge.

Next Up: The Rangers close out the regular season with two more home games, starting with a Landmark Conference tilt versus the University of Scranton on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
