Women's Lax Tops Old Westbury, Wins Sixth Straight

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The Drew University women's lacrosse team tied its third-highest scoring output in team history and the Rangers improved to 6-0 for the first time in 22 years with a 21-1 romp over SUNY Old Westbury in a non-conference match-up Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Lauren Cassella posted five goals and three assists while scoring her 100th career point and junior Allie DiDario also reached a milestone with her 100th career caused turnover.

Highlights
• It was a 1-1 game four and a half minutes into the contest before the Rangers ran off 20 straight goals the rest of the way. Drew ended the first half on an 11-0 run to assume a 12-1 halftime advantage.
• Senior Mia Campanale carried the Blue and Green in the middle of the opening stanza when she scored four straight goals. Cassella added three goals in the period.
• Seven Rangers found the back of the net in the second half, including Cassella, who tossed in her final two tallies. Sophomore Barbara Moukoulis also struck twice.

Top Performers
• Cassella took just seven shots on the game while posting her third five-goal outing of the year. She became the second Ranger to reach 100 points this season, joining DiDario.
• Campanale finished with four goals and one assist while freshman Jenna Draney pumped in three goals and two assists. 
• Freshman Hailey Simmons added one goal and four assists while sophomore Charly Nolting contributed two goals and two helpers. Moukoulis also finished with two tallies.
• DiDario won six draws and caused three turnovers. She became just the third Ranger in program history to reach 100 CTs. Freshman Meliha Emini also earned six draw controls to go with two caused turnovers.

Stat Sheet
The Rangers finished with decided advantages in shots (39-8), ground balls (23-9), and draw controls (15-9) while committing only nine turnovers.

Drew concludes its four-game road swing when it visits Stockon University on Friday at 6 p.m. in another non-conference tilt.
