Jeff Serin tossed a seven-inning, complete-game five-hitter in the nightcap and the Rangers earned a split with Moravian College in Drew's Landmark Conference (LC) and home opener Saturday afternoon at Doc Young Field. The Rangers (4-5, 1-1 LC) dropped the opener 5-3 in 10 innings before capturing a 5-2 victory in the second game. Senior
Mike Pettigrew went 4-for-7 at the plate for the day, and Drew first-year Head Coach
John Fugett picked up his first conference victory.
Game 1 Highlights
• The Rangers never led in the opener but came back to tie it twice.
• Drew trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth before plating their first run against starter Rhett Jacoby. Senior
Zach Lipshitz led off with a single before scoring when junior
Brent Lincoln was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
• The Rangers pulled even (2-2) in the seventh, when Pettigrew singled leading off, was bunted to second by Mitch, and scored on a single from Liptshitz.
• Moravian pushed across another run in the eighth, but senior
Jayson Mitch tied it when he launched a solo homer to right leading off the ninth.
• Drew nearly escaped a jam in the 10th, getting a pair of putouts at the plate after Moravian loaded the bases with none out. But Tim Heard roped a two-out, two-run single. The Rangers had the tying run on base in the bottom of the inning but reliever Tyler Caraway induced a game-ending pop-up.
Game 2 Highlights
• A Lipshitz sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third broke open a scoreless game and gave the Rangers their first lead of the afternoon.
• Trailing 2-1, the hosts opened up some breathing room and set the final score with a four-run fourth, when they sent 10 batters to the plate. Pettigrew belted an RBI-double in the inning, which was aided by two walks and two hit batsmen.Â

Jeff Serin made the lead stand up, blanking the Greyhounds on one hit and one walk the rest of the way en route to his second-straight complete game.
Top Performers
• Pettigrew reached base four times in the opener, going 3-for-4 with a walk.Â
• Serin (2-0) racked up a career-high eight strikeouts and walked only two en route to his fourth career complete game.

Pete Violante allowed just two runs (one earned) while striking out two over six innings in the opener.
