Baseball Drops Rubber Match to Moravian

MADISON, N.J. - Moravian College scored eight times over the last three innings to break open a tie game and hand the Drew University baseball team an 11-4 setback in the rubber match of a Landmark Conference (LC) three-game series on Sunday at Doc Young Field. The Greyhounds win the series after the two sides split a doubleheader on Saturday.

Highlights
• The Rangers (4-6, 1-2 LC) jumped on top 2-0 with a two-run first inning that included an RBI-single from senior Eric DiPietro.
• Moravian (5-6, 2-1 LC) edged in front 3-2 with a three-run third, which was capped by a two-run homer from A.J. Brosious.
• DiPietro pulled the Rangers even when he led off the bottom of the fourth with a solo homer, pulling a shot to left. It was the second long ball of his career and the first since his freshman season.
• Freshman starter Grant Purpura blanked the Greyhounds over the next three innings before running into trouble in the seventh, when Moravian scored twice to go ahead 5-3.
• Moravian pushed across another run in the eighth, then broke it open with a five-run ninth.
