HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Drew University men's tennis team concluded its Spring Break trip to Hilton Head with a split on Friday.

The Rangers (7-3) defeated Albion College 8-1 before falling 7-2 to Milligan University, which competes at the NAIA Division II level.

Against Albion, Drew captured two of three doubles matches and all six singles contests. Freshman Bret Schuler and senior Vineet Vemulapally won 8-2 at No. 2 while junior Geoffrey Diehl and freshman Jeremy Gottlieb won 8-5 at No. 3.

Vemulapally also earned a victory at No. 1 singles, rallying for a tight 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) win at No. 1. 

Other singles winners versus Albion were freshman Dan Blumenthal at No. 2 (7-5, 1-6, 7-6 [15-13]), sophomore Bryce Kennedy at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1), junior Lloyd Goldstein at No. 4 (6-4, 6-1), junior Bryce Weizer at No. 5 (6-1, 7-6 [7-4]), and freshman Billy MacDonald at No. 6 (7-5, 2-6, 7-6 [7-4]).

Versus Milligan, Vemulapally teamed with Diehl for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles while junior Karel Raska claimed a 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 win at No. 5 singles.

The Rangers take 18 days off from competition before visiting Rutgers-Newark on March 27.
