MONTCLAIR, N.J. - Montclair State posted a 6-1 run that spanned the second and third quarters and the Red Hawks handed the Rangers a 9-5 non-conference setback in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

• The Red Hawks (3-2) scored the game's first goal, but junior
Kyle MacDonnell answered with a pair of first-quarter tallies to put the Rangers (0-5) up 2-1 at the end of the first quarter.
• Montclair State answered with its big run to assume a 7-3 lead with 6:49 left in the third quarter. Junior
Seamus O'Connor scored for Drew during the MSU surge.
• The two sides traded goals over the remainder of the quarter. MacDonnell struck again with 4:45 on the clock to make it a three-goal game, but the hosts responded at the 2:23 mark to make it 8-4 heading into the final period.
• Neither side would find the back of the net again until O'Connor tossed in an unassisted goal to pull Drew to within three once again. However, Montclair State would not allow another shot the rest of the way, and the hosts set the final score with a goal at the 2:41 mark.

• MacDonnell posted his second-straight three-goal outing while O'Connor finished with two goals and one assist.
• Sophomore
Miles Savage won 9-of-16 face-offs and picked up four ground balls.
• Junior
Nate Sanders made 16 saves and scooped seven ground balls.

The Red Hawks outshot the Rangers 46-34 and held a 35-25 advantage in ground balls. Drew was nearly perfect on the clear, finishing 19-for-20, and committed a season-low 16 turnovers.
