WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Drew University men's tennis team won two of three doubles matches, then captured four of the six singles flights to earn their first Landmark Conference victory of the season with a 6-3 win at Catholic University Sunday afternoon.
In doubles action, junior
Bryce Weizer and senior
Vineet Vemulapally earned a tight 8-7 (7-4) victory at No. 1 while freshman
Dan Blumenthal and junior
Karel Raska prevailed 8-3 at the third flight.
Vemulapally and Raska also won singles matches to finish as double-winners. Vemulapally won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 while Raska cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
Also in singles, junior
Lloyd Goldstein earned a tough three-set victory at No. 5 (6-4, 3-5, 7-5) while freshman
Jeremy Gottlieb garnered a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6.
The Rangers continue their Landmark Conference schedule on Wednesday, when they visit the University of Scranton at 3:30 p.m.
