MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Junior
Matthew Lange ripped a tiebreaking two-run triple in the eighth while junior
Brandon Radd and freshman
Benjamin Savitz tossed three scoreless innings apiece as the Drew University baseball team won its fifth game in a row, defeating Montclair State University 7-5 in a non-conference outing Tuesday afternoon.
Highlights
• The Rangers (15-10) jumped to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, when sophomore
Cole Bosch smacked a two-run double and senior
Zach Lipshitz singled home a run.
• The Red Hawks (10-14) answered with five runs over the next two innings versus freshman starter
Teddy Hoxie, scoring three in the second and two in the third to assume a 5-4 lead.
• Junior
Brent Lincoln tied it up in the fifth, when he clubbed his second career home run leading off the inning.
• It was nearly a 5-5 game heading into the bottom of the eighth, but in the top of the frame Bosch reached on a two-out error following an epic 11-pitch at-bat. Lipshitz was then intentionally walked, setting up Lange's big hit – a drive to left-center.
• Savitz blanked MSU the rest of the way.
