Rangers Tie Wins Record with ECAC Semifinal Victory

MADISON, N.J. – The Rangers outscored Marymount University 7-1 to start the game and never looked back, racing to a 16-5 victory in the semifinals of the ECAC Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday at FDU-Florham. With the win, the Rangers (16-4) tied the program record for wins in a season, equaling the 2004 and 2007 squads that both finished 16-4.
 
Freshman Kendall Hartt posted season-highs of five goals and seven draw controls for the Rangers, who march into their fourth ECAC final and their first since 2004.
 
Highlights
• The Rangers came out of the gates on fire, scoring three times in the opening three minutes on tallies from sophomore Lauren Cassella, freshman Charly Nolting, and Hartt.
• Freshman Meliha Emini struck with 24:05 remaining in the opening half to make it 4-1 before defense took over, as neither side scored over the next 15 minutes.
•The Rangers closed the half on a flurry, outscoring the Saints 4-1 over the final 8:36 to assume an 8-2 halftime lead. Emini and Cassella each scored while Hartt struck twice during the stretch.
• The Blue and Green continued to roll in the second half, outscoring Marymount 3-1 over the first four minutes, with junior Allie DiDario, Casella, and Emini all finding paydirt to make it 11-3.
• Drew closed the final 14:48 on a 5-1 surge, getting two goals from Hartt and one apiece from senior Mia Campanale, DiDario, and freshman Jenna Draney.
 
Top Performers
• Hartt posted her third hat trick of the season, scoring two more goals than her previous season-high.
• Cassella added three goals and two assists while Emini also scored three times.
• DiDario notched two goals, two assists, and six draw controls.
• Sophomore Kat Michalski finished with 10 saves, reaching double figures for the ninth time this season.
 
Stat Sheet
The Rangers outshot the Saints 35-20 and won 17 of 23 draws. Each side finished with 18 ground balls.
