HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Drew University women's soccer team faced a tough challenge in its season opener, taking on 23rd-ranked Otterbein College on the opening day of the Centenary Cyclones Kickoff Classic on Friday. But the Cardinals scored twice in each half and handed the Rangers a 4-0 setback.
The Rangers held their own in possession, however, as Otterbein held just a 14-13 shot advantage. Drew outshot the Cardinals 9-5 in the opening half but was unable to find the frame.
A pair of freshmen split the time in goal for the Blue and Green.
Angela Accetturo started and made two saves in the opening half before
Anthi Panayides stopped one shot over the final stanza.
Drew concludes tournament play on Saturday, when faces Centenary at 3 p.m.
