EWING, N.J. - The College of New Jersey scored a pair of goals midway through the first half and held on to nip the Drew University men's soccer team 2-1 in a non-conference tilt Wednesday evening.
The Lions (7-1), ranked sixth in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Division III South Atlantic Region poll, scored in the 20th and 30th minutes to assume an early 2-0 lead. The hosts outshot the Rangers 8-3 in the opening period.
Drew received a spark from freshman
Modesto Nogueira in the 69th minute, scoring his first collegiate goal on a line drive from 25 yards out off an assist from freshman
Kyle Bethel assisted on the tally. TCNJ limited the Rangers to just shots and one corner the rest of the way, however.
Nogueira and junior
Tony Oliveira attempted a team-high two shots apiece for the Rangers.
Drew takes a week off before returning to action next Wednesday, when it visits Kean University at 7 p.m. in another non-conference outing.
