Field Hockey Topped by Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Rangers blanked Delaware Valley University in the first quarter, but the host Aggies scored at least once in the final three periods to earn a 4-0 victory in a non-conference field hockey game Friday evening.

Freshman goalie Bridget Kenny tied her season-high save total for the second game in a row for the Rangers, making nine stops, while junior Joie Slossar played the final 22 minutes in the cage and collected a pair of saves.

Kenny made four saves in the opening quarter and three more over the opening 10 minutes of the second stanza. Drew nearly carried a shutout into halftime, but the Aggies converted off a corner in the final minute to assume a 1-0 lead.

Delaware Valley (3-3) came out attacking in the second half, but Kenny turned aside a pair of shots in the opening minute. However, the Aggies broke through on their third shot of the period to make it 2-0. On the offensive end, freshman Lauren Zultowski took the team's first shot on goal later in the quarter, but it was saved by Aggie keeper Rosie Bishop.

Slossar made both of her saves early in the final quarter to keep it a two-goal game. But after Bishop saved another Zultowski shot, Del Val answered with a pair of insurance tallies midway through the half, with its final goal coming on a penalty stroke.

Bishop finished with four saves to earn the shutout.

The Rangers (2-6) play the third game of their four-game road trip on Wednesday at 7 p.m., visiting Stevens Institute of Technology in another non-conference affair.
