MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's basketball team was handed a 59-40 setback from 14th-ranked University of Scranton in Landmark Conference (LC) action Wednesday evening in Baldwin Gym.
Junior center
Erin Frederick led Drew (15-9, 6-7 LC) with a game-high 17 points to go with three blocked shots while freshman guard
Joey Meyers added 12 points. Sophomore guard
Sekya Campbell tied her career-high with 16 rebounds while sophomore forward
Cecelia Kracht also blocked three shots.
Makenzie Mason led the Royals (21-3, 11-2 LC) with 14 points.Â
The Rangers scored the first three points of the game, but Scranton came back with a 13-1 run and led 13-4 with 3:30 on the clock and 20-11 at the end of the opening quarter.
The Royals gradually pulled away in the second quarter and pushed their lead to 19 before Meyers drained a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left in the half to make it a 36-20 game at the intermission.
Scranton put the game out of reach in the third quarter, when it held the Rangers to four points. Drew refused to go quietly, however, and outscored the Royals 16-8 in the fourth quarter.Â
The Rangers close out the regular season on Saturday, when they host Landmark Conference opponent Catholic at 4 p.m. on Senior Day.
