Women's Lax Cruises in Season Opener

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Rangers started their 2020 campaign on the right foot, outscoring host King's College 12-0 in the first half en route to an 18-2 victory in non-conference women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.

Drew received a big offensive showing from the trio of junior Lauren Cassella, sophomore Hailey Simmons, and senior Allie DiDario. Cassella posted four goals and four assists while Simmons notched four goals on four shots to go with three assists and four ground balls. DiDario contributed five goals on seven shots while sophomore Jenna Draney chipped in with two goals and one assist.

Sophomores Kendall Hartt and Meliha Emini contributed five and four draw controls, respectively, while a pair of goalies split the time between the pipes. Junior Katiana Michalski made five saves without allowing a goal before giving way to freshman Anna Horne, who stopped one shot in her collegiate debut.

The Rangers showed their offensive depth in the opening half, as six different players combined for the team's 12 tallies. After the Monarchs scored two of the first three goals of the second half, the rangers ended the game on a 5-0 run.

Drew plays its home opener on Wednesday, when it takes on DeSales at 4:30 p.m. in a non-conference outing.
