GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - Another outstanding season has come to an end for the Drew University men's basketball team with a 71-54 loss to Rutgers-Newark in the semifinals of the ECAC Championship Saturday evening at Gwynedd Mercy University.
The Rangers closed out the year with a 21-7 record and finished the season with the second-most victories in program history, trailing only last year's team that went 23-7. Drew qualified for both the Landmark Conference and ECAC playoffs for the third year in a row.

Riley Collins finished with 12 points and four assists and ends his outstanding career with school records for points (1,949), assists (476) and 3-pointers (277).

Mathew Capozzoli added a career-high 10 points for the Rangers while freshman forward
Howard McBurnie, Jr. grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots.
Jamir Patterson and Quincy Rutherford scored 16 pints each for the Scarlet Raiders (18-12), who will face Gwynedd Mercy in Sunday's final.
Rutgers-Newark led for all but 21 seconds in the game used an 8-0 run to open up a nine-point lead (22-13) with 7:25 left in the first half. The Raiders scored the last five points of the period to take a 37-25 lead into the locker room.
Newark continued to pull away early in the second and pushed its advantage to 14 with 13 minutes left. But the Rangers came back with the next six points on three straight jumpers from junior guard
Miles Lewis to make it 48-40 with 11:37 to go. However, the Raiders would hold Drew scoreless over the next three minutes while scoring the next four points to push their lead back to 12 with 8:23 remaining, and the Rangers were unable to get closer than 10 the rest of the way.
