Women's Volleyball Closes Out Inaugural Season 19-9

MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's volleyball team put an exclamation point on a tremendous inaugural season, downing Goucher College 3-0 to come away with a split on the final day of the season.

Under Head Coach Alyssa Broccoli, the Rangers closed out the year with a 19-9 record, including a pair of Landmark Conference victories to finish sixth in the conference standings.

Before its match with Goucher, Drew honored its lone senior, Murielle Mason, with a brief ceremony.

Drew opened the day with a tough 3-2 loss (25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 25-27, 15-8) to Catholic. Trailing 2-1, the Rangers pulled out a thrilling two-point victory before the Cardinals put the match away in the fifth and deciding set Freshman Andrea Camacho-Tenreiro turned in a tremendous performance, posting season-highs of 32 kills and 27 digs. Classmate Ashley Carkhuff added nine kills and 21 digs while first-year Jasmine Butler distributed 29 assists. Freshman Lauren Gaza totaled 21 digs and five aces while sophomore Melina Christodoulou registered four blocks.

In its evening match, the Rangers cruised by Goucher, winning 25-15, 25-13, and 25-17. Camacho-Tenreiro led the Rangers again with 17 kills and nine digs while Carkhuff finished with seven kills and seven digs. Christodoulou recorded six kills and six blocks (one solo), and Gaza posted 18 digs and three aces. Freshman Shelby Weeden and Butler handed out 17 and 13 assists, respectively. Butler also threw down three blocks for the second match in a row. In her final match, Mason finished with six digs.

With all but one player set to return in 2022, the future looks bright for the Ranger women's volleyball program.
