Field Hockey Rolls at Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - SIx different Rangers scored a goal and the Drew University field hockey team rolled to a 7-1 non-conference victory at Bryn Athyn College on Tuesday.

Junior Alexa Thomas posted two goals and one assist for Drew, which scored all seven of its goals in the first half.

Playing for the third time in four days, the Rangers showed little signs of fatigue early on, scoring five times in the first quarter. Thomas scored two minutes into the game before freshman Lauren Cagliostro connected for her first collegiate goal two minutes later off an assist from classmate Tyler Olivio.

Junior Trisha Dominick followed up with nine minutes left in the opening quarter, scoring her third goal of the year to make it 3-0. Thomas struck again three minutes later for her team-leading eighth goal of the season before assisting on the team's final tally of the quarter, as freshman Janelle Arch scored to make it a 5-0 game.

The Rangers continued their surge into the second quarter, when seniors Jinah Cappuccino and April Serratelli scored midway through the period to push Drew's lead to 7-0. The Lions broke up the shutout with 26 seconds on the clock to make it a 7-1 game at the break.

Neither side would find the back of the cage in the second half, although the Rangers would pile up a 13-1 shot advantage over the final 30 minutes. For the game, Drew outshot Bryn Athyn 32-3.

Sophomore Olyvia Jackson went the distance in goal for Drew and was credited with one save.

The Rangers return to Landmark Conference action on Saturday, when they host Catholic University at 1 p.m.
