Women's Basketball Cruises Past CCNY

MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's basketball team used a solid team effort to topple City College of New York (CCNY) 70-22 in a non-conference tilt in Baldwin Gym Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Rangers improved to 7-0 and continued their best start since the 2009-10 squad opened 9-0.

All 12 Drew players who dressed entered the game and played at least 14 minutes. Ten different Rangers found the scoring column in a balanced scoring effort.

Senior guard Brooke Timinski tied her career-high with 12 points while also contributing six rebounds and five assists for Drew, which was playing its final home game of 2021. Junior guard Joey Meyers also scored a dozen points and dished out six assists while junior guard Kyra Mann posted nine points and four rebounds. Freshman guard Izzy Lalo and junior guard Katrina Wojtowicz notched eight points apiece, with Wojtowicz also blocking four shots. In addition, senior guard Micela Genua grabbed seven rebounds while senior forward Cecelia Kracht swiped four steals.

Charlotte Fobert netted eight points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks for the Beavers (0-4).

Drew took control of the game early, outscoring the Beavers 22-3 in the first quarter. The Rangers stretched their lead to 30-3 with 6:22 left in the second quarter and carried a 38-10 advantage into halftime.

The hosts continued to roll in the third quarter, outscoring CCNY 25-3. The Beavers held a 9-7 scoring edge in the fourth quarter.

The Rangers outrebounded CCNY 54-29 while posting the team's highest rebound total since 

Drew is back in action on Sunday, when it visits Goucher College at 2 p.m. in its Landmark Conference opener.
