DiDario Scores 200th Career Point in Loss at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. - Graduate student Allie DiDario scored five goals and reached the 200-point milestone for her career, but the Drew University women's lacrosse team lost by a final of 19-10 at the University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference (LC) tilt Wednesday afternoon.

Scranton (6-1, 6-1 LC) never trailed after scoring the first four goals of the game.

DiDario's five goals was just one shy of her career-high and marked her sixth career five-goal showing.

DiDario also picked up six ground balls while freshman Lizzy Barrettt added two goals and one assist for the Rangers (3-3, 3-3 LC). Sophomore Anna Horne made her first start in goal and finished with 11 saves.

Jill Henson led the Royals with four goals and three assists while Lauren Devlin made 13 saves.

Scranton scored four times in the opening 10 minutes to assume their early lead. However, DiDario scored consecutive goals before junior Hailey Simmons struck to make it a 4-3 game with 7:21 left in the opening half.

The Royals answered with the next four goals before Barrett and senior Lauren Cassella each found paydirt and the Rangers trailed 8-5 with 1:41 showing. Scranton tacked on a goal with 28 seconds remaining and took a 9-5 lead into the intermission.

The hosts scored twice to open the second half before the Rangers answered with a pair of tallies from Barrett and DiDario to make it 11-7. But that's when Scranton ran off a 7-1 run to open up a 10-goal lead with 10:13 remaining. Senior Charly Nolting and DiDario added one goal apiece in the final three minutes for Drew.

Drew returns to action on Saturday, when it hosts sixth-ranked Catholic in a Landmark Conference match-up starting at 3 p.m.
