Results

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Graduate student Geoffrey Diehl broke the school record for career doubles victories while helping to lead the Drew University men's tennis team to an 8-1 Landmark Conference win over Elizabethtown College on Saturday at Saint Elizabeth University.

Diehl teamed up with junior Bret Schuler for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, marking his 65th career doubles victory. He surpassed the former record held by Matt Brisotti C'12 since 2012. Diehl is now 25-0 for his career at No. 2 doubles.

Diehl also earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles while sophomore John Dickey was also a double-winner, prevailing at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles.

The Rangers (5-0, 5-0 LC) remained perfect on the season and have now won their last 20 matches, dating back to April 15, 2019.

Drew opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches to open up a 3-0 lead. In addition to Diehl and Schuler, sophomore Dickey and senior Bryce Kennedy prevailed 8-4 at No. 1 while junior Ben Dunlap and sophomore Brett Philip captured an 8-7 nailbiter  No. 3.

The Rangers went on to capture five of the six singles flights. Besides Diehl, Drew received victories from junior Dan Blumenthal at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1), Dickey at No. 3 (6-1, 6-3), junior Jeremy Gottlieb at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1), and freshman Jack Polvere at No. 6 (6-0, 6-2).

The Blue and Green are back in action on Sunday, when they host Susquehanna University at 1 p.m. back at Saint Elizabeth.
