Women's Lax Runs Past Juniata

MADISON, N.J. - For the second game in a row, nine different Rangers found the back of the net and the Drew University women's lacrosse team rolled to a 19-9 Landmark Conference (LC) victory over Juniata College on Saturday in Ranger Stadium.

Junior Kendall Hartt scored five goals and handed out one assist for Drew (3-2, 3-2 LC), which took command early with a 10-1 run to start the game. Freshman Lizzy Barrett also posted a six-point day with three goals and three assists.

Graduate student Allie DiDario turned in a big game on both ends of the field, netting two goals, two assists, four ground balls, four caused turnovers, and four draw controls. Her final ground ball was the 200th of her career, and she became just the 10th player in program history to reach the milestone.

Senior Lauren Cassella added two goals and two assists while classmate Charly Nolting contributed two goals, one assist, and six draw controls. Junior Jenna Draney also scored two goals while classmate Meliha Emini registered one goal, three assists, and eight draw controls.

Senior Katiana Michalski played the opening half and made a pair of saves while sophomore Anna Horne finished the game in net, making one save.

Juniata scored the game's opening goal before the Rangers responded with a 10-0 run. Barrett scored all three of her goals during the outburst while Hartt and Nolting cashed in twice apiece.

The two sides combined for six goals over the last five minutes of the half. The Rangers pushed their lead to nine after DiDario scored her second goal of the game with 1:55 left, but Grace Gibbs scored two of her six goals inside the last 1:23 to make it a 12-5 game at the intermission.

The two sides traded goals until the Rangers closed the game with a 4-0 run over the final 12:20. Draney, Emini, Cassella, and freshman Ella Champigny all scored down the stretch to settle any doubt.

The Rangers outshot the Eagles 47-14, held a 24-11 advantage in ground balls, and posted a 21-8 edge in draw controls.

Drew picks up its schedule next Saturday, when it hosts Susquehanna University starting at 1 p.m. in Landmark Conference action.
