MADISON, N.J. - Moravian College took both ends of a makeup doubleheader from the Drew University baseball team in Landmark Conference action Friday afternoon at Doc Young Field.
The Greyhounds won the opener 15-6 and the nightcap 15-1.
Sophomores
K.J. Hallgren and
Jake Welsh each finished 3-for-6 on the day to lead the Rangers offensively while classmate
Matthew Kroll slugged his first collegiate home run.
In the opener, Drew tied its season-high with 10 hits while playing just a seven-inning game. Trailing 10-0, the Rangers cut the lead in half with three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Senior
Nate Race highlighted the fourth inning with an RBI-double into right-center while freshman
Joey Del Sol singled home a run in the fifth.
Welsh drove in the Rangers' final run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Senior
Tim Jinks started on the mound for Drew and worked two innings before classmate
Kyle Tamburri went 3 2/3 innings. Sophomore
Dylan Donohue pitched the last 1 1/3 innings and did not allow an earned run.
In the second game, Kroll went deep with a towering shot to left in the bottom of the first, making it a 3-1 game. But starter Cam Cooper shut out the Rangers the rest of the way, allowing just four hits and one walk.
Junior
Teddy Hoxie was Drew's starting pitcher in the second game and tossed the first two innings. Four other pitchers entered the game for Drew: freshman

Jake Schoffelen (3.1 IP), sophomore
Gio DeGiglio (0.1 IP), and freshman
Brian Lavelle (0.2 IP).
The Rangers close out their home schedule next Saturday, when they host Elizabethtown College in another makeup doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m.
