Alexa Thomas scored two goals while senior
April Serratelli handed out a pair of assists and the Drew University field hockey team earned its first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Delaware Valley in non-conference action Wednesday evening in Ranger Stadium.
Sophomore
Olyvia Jackson made eight saves for the Rangers while earning her first career goalie victory. She came up with seven of her stops in a crucial fourth quarter, when the Aggies fired off 13 shots.
The win marked the first victory for Interim Head Coach
Sally Dreyer.
Drew jumped out a an early lead, when Thomas tapped home a cross from Serratelli less than five minutes into the contest. Neither team managed to score in the second quarter and Drew carried a 1-0 lead into the half.
Six minutes into the third quarter Thomas and Serratelli struck again, with Thomas taking a cross from the right post and one-timing a shot from the left side of the cage to make it 2-0.
The Rangers cemented their victory with just over six minutes left. Freshman
Lauren Cagliostro sent in a corner pass to senior
Amber Frikkee, who flicked a pass to junior
Trisha Dominick on the right elbow. Dominick blasted in her second goal of the season before Del Val set the final score two minutes later.
The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, when they host King's at 1 p.m. in another non-conference match-up.
