WASHINGTON, D.C – Senior
Alexa Thomas netted her team-leading seventh goal of the season, but the Drew field hockey team fell 7-1 at Catholic on Saturday in a Landmark Conference match-up.
The Rangers (4-4, 1-1) remain on the road for a non-conference contest at Delaware Valley on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
The hosts took a 1-0 lead with the only score of the opening frame on a tally by Hanna Jacobs.
The scoring picked up in a hurry in the second stanza with three goals in a span of 3:01. Catholic struck twice in 1:07 to extend the advantage to 3-0, while the Rangers got on the scoreboard in the final minute.
Tyler Olivio put a cross from the right side to the front of the net where Thomas won the ball from a defender, side-stepped the goalie and rolled a shot into the Cardinal cage with 30 left before the half.
The Cardinals struck quick in the third frame, pushing the margin to 4-1 with a goal with 46 seconds expired. Catholic added two more scores in the quarter for a 6-1 lead.
The hosts closed out the scoring in the final 15 minutes, as Molly McEvoy notched her second of the contest.

Olyvia Jackson finished with a career-high 15 saves.
