DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Junior
Maxine Lloyd scored in the closing minutes of regulation, but the Ranger comeback fell one goal short as host Delaware Valley University handed Drew a 2-1 setback in non-conference field hockey action Tuesday evening.
With 3:10 left, a long Ranger cross deflected off a defender to Lloyd, who was waiting in front of the goalie. She quickly pushed the ball through the 5-hole and into the right corner of the cage for her fifth tally of the season, making it a one-goal contest. However, the Aggies (4-7) did not allow a shot down the stretch.
Junior goalie
Olyvia Jackson finished with four saves while facing 12 shots for the Rangers (4-6).
After a scoreless first quarter, Del Val got on the scoreboard on a TJ Smith goal three and a half minutes into the second period. Then with 2:29 left in the opening half, Sydney Keagle scored what held up as the game-winning tally.
The Rangers shut out the Aggies in the second half, when Jackson collected three of her stops.
Drew returns to the field on Saturday, when it travels to Moravian University for a Landmark Conference tilt starting at 1 p.m.
