Field Hockey Blanks Lancaster Bible in Home Finale

MADISON, N.J. – Senior Alexa Thomas and junior Maxine Lloyd posted two goals and one assist apiece and sophomore Tyler Olivio handed out three assists, leading the Drew University field hockey team to a 5-0 win over Lancaster Bible College in its final home game of the season Tuesday evening in Ranger Stadium.

With the victory, the Rangers (7-8) reached their highest win total since the 2013 campaign.

Drew wasted little time taking control, as Thomas scored a pair of goals 38 second apart to give her team a 2-0 lead with 11:24 remaining in the stanza. She converted off a corner, then finished off a dish from Olivio on a breakaway for her 10th goal of the season.

After a scoreless second quarter, the Rangers broke it wide open with three tallies in the third period. Lloyd scored both of her goals less than three minutes apart early in the quarter, netting both from the left post on a pass from Olivio from the right side. She now leads the squad with 11 goals on the season.

With just over minutes left in the quarter, Thomas pushed a pass forward to freshman Emily Monaco on a breakaway. Monaco backhanded it in for her second goal of the year while setting the final score.

Drew finished with advantages in shots (23-3) and penalty corners (8-1).

Junior Olyvia Jackson and senior Bridget Kenny combined on a shutout for the Rangers. Jackson played the opening half before giving way to Kenny over the final 30 minutes. Neither faced a shot on goal.

Olivio's three assists were the most by a Ranger since Michelle Fallon C'16 posted a school-record four helpers in a 13-2 win over Cedar Crest in 2015.

Drew closes out its season on Saturday, when it visits Susquehanna University at 1 p.m. in a Landmark Conference affair.
