LANCASTER, Pa. and ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Drew University men's tennis team captured two victories on Saturday with split squads competing in south-central Pennsylvania.
The Rangers earned a 5-4 victory at Lancaster Bible College before blanking Elizabethtown College 9-0 in its Landmark Conference opener.
At LBC, Drew (7-2, 1-0 LC) won two of three doubles points to go up 2-1. Junior
Leo Ambrogio and senior
Dan Blumenthal captured an 8-1 victory at No. 1 before senior
Ben Dunlap and sophomore
Santo Carroccia won 8-5 at No. 2.
The Rangers clinched the victory with wins at the top-three singles spots. Blumenthal (7-5, 7-6) earned a gutsy victory at No. 1 while Carroccia (6-2, 6-0 at No. 2) and Ambrogio (6-1, 6-3 at No. 3) also won in straight sets.Â
Against Elizabethtown, Drew turned in a flawless performance in doubles, as the Rangers won 8-0 at all three spots. Junior

Bret Schuler won at No. 1 while junior
John Dickey and sophomore
Jack Polvere were victorious at No. 2. Freshman

Billy MacDonald prevailed at No. 3.
The Rangers were just as impressive in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Perera won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 while Schuler captured a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Dickey added a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3, and Polvere was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at No. 4. Rounding out the singles winners were McDonald at No. 5 (6-0, 6-4) and Kravchenko at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1).
Drew continues its busy weekend on Sunday, when they host Yeshiva University in the Simon Forum immediately following the completion of the women's match versus Kean University that starts at 10 a.m.
