MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University men's tennis team won its fifth match in a row with a 7-2 victory over Yeshiva University in a non-conference match in the Simon Forum Sunday afternoon.
Juniors
Avi Perera,
Leo Ambrogio, and
John Dickey and sophomore
Jack Polvere earned two victories apiece for the Rangers (8-2).
Drew jumped to a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles matches. Perera and senior
Bret Schuler won 8-5 at No. 1 while Dickey and Polvere pulled out a close one, prevailing 8-7 (7-4). Ambrogio and senior
Billy MacDonald added an 8-6 victory at the third slot.
In singles action, the Rangers won at No. 1 while sweeping the bottom three spots. Perera held on for a 6-2, 4-6, 10-2 victory at first singles while Ambrogio cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 4. Dickey gutted out a 7-6 (10-8) nailbiter in the opening set before closing it out with a 6-1 victory at No. 5, good for his seventh straight victory. Polvere posted a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Drew is back in action on Saturday, when split squads host Rutgers-Camden at 10 a.m. in a non-conference match and Moravian University at 1 p.m. in a Landmark Conference tilt.
