HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - Junior
John Dickey won at No. 6 singles to clinch a 5-4 victory for the Drew University men's tennis team versus Lebanon Valley on Monday, helping the Rangers earn their first victory of their spring break trip.
Senior
Dan Blumenthal was victorious in both singles and doubles play to lead the Rangers (3-1).
Drew opened the match by winning two of three doubles matches to assume a 2-1 lead. Junior
Avi Perera and senior
Bret Schuler prevailed 8-3 at No. 1 doubles while Blumenthal and junior
Leo Ambrogio captured an 8-6 decision at No. 3.
The Rangers went on to push their lead to 4-2 after winning two of the first three completed singles matches. Sophomore
Santo Carroccia won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 before the Flying Dutchmen (4-3) won by injury default at No. 1. Blumenthal then pulled out a tight three-set victory, winning 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
LVC came back to win Nos. 4-5 singles, setting up Dickey's pivotal victory.
The Rangers continue their trip on Wednesday, when they take on Spring Harbor at 8:30 a.m. back in Hilton Head.
