Men's Tennis Downs Saint Elizabeth in Weather-Shortened Match

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Drew University men's tennis team shut out Saint Elizabeth University 5-0 in a weather-shortened non-conference match Thursday afternoon.

The Rangers (14-3), who are now on a five-match winning streak, won all three doubles points and a pair of singles matches before the remainder of the match was called due to rain and lighting.

In doubles play, seniors Dan Blumenthal and Ben Dunlap teamed up for an 8-1 win while senior Brett Philip and sophomore Jack Polvere rolled to an 8-0 victory at No. 2. In addition, freshmen Sergey Kravchenko and Matt Sherman prevailed 8-2 at No. 3.

The only singles matches that were played to completion were at Nos. 1 and 3, where Dickey and Kravchenko each earned a perfect 6-0, 6-0 verdict. Freshman Owen Reynolds was on match point at No. 5 leading 40-love when the match was stopped.

The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, April 23, when they host Goucher College at 1 p.m. in a Landmark Conference tilt.
