MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University men's tennis team clinched a home Landmark Conference playoff match with a big 5-4 victory over Goucher College on Saturday at the Drew Tennis Complex.

The Rangers (15-3, 6-0 LC) handed the Gophers (8-7, 4-1 LC) their first conference loss and moved to within one match of their second-straight undefeated Landmark Conference regular season. They can clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Landmark Championships with a victory over Catholic University on Sunday.

Additionally, Drew pushed its regular-season winning streak versus conference opponents to 15 and has now won 18 straight overall versus Landmark foes. Also, the Rangers stretched their home winning streak to 22. All three streaks date back to the 2018-19 season.

The Rangers surged to a 2-1 lead by winning two of the three doubles points. Junior Avi Perera and senior Bret Schuler won 8-2 at No. 1 to improve to 6-0 in conference play. Junior Leo Ambrogio and senior Dan Blumenthal added an 8-4 victory at No. 3 to stay perfect at 5-0 versus Landmark foes this season.

Perera went on to earn a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles while Ambrogio prevailed 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4. Sophomore Santo Carroccia then clinched it for Drew, winning 7-5, 6-2, as his victory made it a 5-2 match before the Gophers captured the final two points.

Drew takes on Catholic at noon on Sunday before facing Rowan College of South Jersey later in the day at 4 p.m.
