MADISON, N.J. - For the first time over a decade, the Drew University baseball team ended a game in a tie following a 6-6 draw with Ramapo College in non-conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Doc Young Field.

The game was called after the ninth inning due to darkness almost 11 years to the day of their last tie, a 4-4 stalemate versus the US Merchant Marine Academy.

Junior pitcher Giovanni DeGiglio got the start for the Rangers and turned in the best performance of his collegiate career.

Through eight tremendous innings, DeGiglio allowed only two runs on three hits while striking out five. Incredibly efficient all day long, at one point he fired four-straight 1-2-3 innings from the third to the sixth. Even at the end of the eighth, DeGiglio was still throwing gas, blowing away the final batter of the inning with a scorching fastball down the middle. Though he did go back out for the top of the ninth, he was unable to record an out and left with two runners on base, both of whom came around to score.

The Rangers offense did a good job backing up DeGiglio with solid run support, scoring six runs on 11 hits. Senior shortstop Cole Bosch (2-for-4) put Drew on the board after hitting a sac fly in the top of the third before junior rightfielder Jake Welsh gave the Rangers the lead with an RBI groundout in the same inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Rangers tacked on two more runs with a pair of bases loaded walks by freshman third baseman Dallas Lorenzetti (2-for-3) and junior second baseman Anthony Diaz (2-for-3). Drew added another two runs in the eighth after Bosch drove in a pair with a double that just missed leaving the park by mere inches.

Carrying a 6-2 lead in the top of the ninth, the Rangers came incredibly close to closing out the game, but Ramapo rallied and scored four runs to tie things up. After Drew was set down in order in the bottom of the ninth, the game was officially called before starting the 10th inning.

With their 10-game home stand completed, the Rangers will now head to Selinsgrove, Pa. for a three-game Landmark Conference series with Susquehanna University starting on Saturday with a doubleheader at noon.
