MADISON, N.J. – Junior
Olyvia Jackson made nine saves, but the Drew University field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to visiting Widener University Tuesday evening in a non-conference match in Ranger Stadium.
The Rangers (1-2) blanked the Pride in a defensively-controlled first quarter, when each side managed just one shot. But the Pride (3-2) scored at each end of the second quarter, striking 55 seconds into the period and again with two seconds left to make it a 2-0 game at the half. Jackson made four of her saves in the stanza while facing eight shots.
The visitors added two goals in the third quarter to open up a 4-0 lead. The Pride tacked on its final goal early in the fourth quarter, but Jackson stopped the final three Widener shots on frame.
Margaret Howe-Consiglio scored a pair of goals for the Pride while Jesse Schlosser passed out three assists.
The Rangers return home on Saturday, when they take on Neumann University at 2 p.m. in another non-conference tilt.
