GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Drew University women's volleyball team split two more matches to wrap up play at the Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic on Saturday.
The Rangers opened the day with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-23) loss to Gettysburg before closing the day with a gutsy 3-1 win over Montclair State. After falling 38-36 in a marathon of an opening set, the Blue and Green earned 25-16, 25-22, and 27-25 victories to win going away.
Sophomore
Andrea Camacho-Tenreiro was honored with a spot on the All-Tournament Team after collecting 77 kills and 61 digs over the four matches.
Versus Gettysburg, Camacho-Tenreiro totaled 18 kills, 15 digs, and three aces to lead the way. Sophomore
Ashley Carkhuff posted eight kills and 10 digs while classmate
Jasmine Butler distributed 26 assists to go with three blocks. Sophomore
Lauren Gaza posted 18 digs while freshmen
Teeya Desgoutte and
Marissa Guajardo registered four and three blocks, respectively.
Against Montclair State, Camacho-Tenreiro turned in another big performance, finishing with 23 kills, 20 digs, and a school-record six aces, Carkhuff had nine kills and 11 digs while junior
Melina Christodoulou also posted nine kills. Butler contributed 44 assists and 13 digs, and Gaza came up with 19 digs.
The Rangers return to action on Thursday, when they face Farmingdale State in their home opener starting at 7 p.m.
