MADISON, N.J. - Sophomore
Alexa Krause scored the game's only goal with an unassisted tally midway through the first half and the Drew University women's soccer team topped Stockton University 1-0 in a non-conference tilt Wednesday evening in Ranger Stadium.
With the victory, the Rangers improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2002. and picked up their first win over the Ospreys (2-2) since a 3-0 victory in 1989.
Krause, the reigning Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week, has now scored in all three of her games this season and leads the conference with six goals.
In the 28th minute, Krause out-hustled a pair of opponents for a 50-50 ball and quickly rifled a shot from the top of the box. It glanced off the left post and into the back of the net to give the Rangers all the scoring they would need.
Defensively, senior
Anthi Panayides collected six saves to earn her first shutout of the season and the third of her career.
For the night Stockton outshot the Rangers 12-8. Megan Brady made three saves for the Ospreys.
Drew returns to action on Saturday, when it takes on Coast Guard at 3:30 p.m. on the first day of the Drew Fall Festival.
