PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The Drew University men's soccer team jumped to an early lead and never looked back, capturing a 4-1 non-conference victory at Saint Joseph's-Long Island Wednesday evening in the squad's first road game of the year.
With the win, The Rangers pushed their record to 4-0 for the first time since 2015.
Junior
Christian Tyson scored a pair of goals for Drew while freshman
Jared Brown notched one goal and one assist. Senior
Calum Erlenborn collected three saves for the Blue and Green.
Brown had a hand in each of the team's first two goals. He scored 2:35 into the match with the first goal of his career, then set up a tally from Tyson that made it 2-0 in just the 15th minute.
It would remain a two-goal game for nearly the rest of the half before the Eagles found the back of the net with less than two minutes remaining in the opening period.
Tyson struck again early in the second half when he finished off a feed from sophomore
Kevin Kiernan. Sophomore
Tino Puentes then put the match away when he buried his first collegiate goal midway through the period, converting a feed from junior
Matthew Agudelo.
The Rangers outshot the Eagles 21-9 on the night. Josh Lehr made seven saves for Saint Joseph's.
Drew continues its season on Saturday, when it hosts Wilkes University at 7 p.m. in a non-conference affair.
