Howard McBurnie, Jr. and
Michael Kane scored 23 points apiece, lifting the Drew University men's basketball team to a 77-43 victory at Goucher College in Landmark Conference action Friday afternoon.

The Rangers (9-6, 1-3 LC), who earned their first conference victory of the season, never trailed after opening the game on a 9-0 run.

McBurnie also gathered eight rebounds while Kane and junior guard
James Anderson grabbed seven boards each.

Drew held Goucher to 32.1% shooting and outrebounded the Gophers 45-26.

Brandon Joseph posted 12 points and seven rebounds to pace Goucher (2-11, 0-3 LC).

Fifteen different Rangers entered the game for Drew, with 10 finding the scoring column.

McBurnie and Kane accounted for Drew's first 11 points of the game. Meanwhile, the Rangers held the Gophers scoreless for over five minutes to start the contest.

After trailing by nine in the early going, Goucher pulled to within 14-10 with 10:51 on the clock. However, that's when the Rangers broke it open with an 18-0 run over a 4:43 span to go up 28-10 with 5:16 left in the half. Kane, who shot 8-for-11 for the game, helped fuel the run with eight straight points.

The Rangers stayed hot over the remainder of the half, and McBurnie scored the team's final eight points of the period to give Drew a 37-18 lead at the break.

 McBurnie and Kane scored 16 points each in the opening half.

Drew carried its momentum into the second stanza, when it shot 57.1% from the field. Junior guard Anderson and Kane scored the first four points of the half as the Rangers' lead ballooned over 20, and Drew gradually built upon its lead the rest of the way.

The Rangers are back in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday, when they visit the University of Scranton in a 7 p.m. tip-off.
