ALBANY, N.Y. – The Drew University men's volleyball team secured its first tri-match sweep in team history on Saturday, as the Rangers blanked both Wells College and host Russell Sage College.
The Blue and Green opened the day with a 25-11, 25-20, 25-16 win over Wells before posting a 25-6, 25-17, and 25-19 sweep over Russell Sage, improving to 4-2 on the season.
Sophomore
Ephraim Smith paced the Rangers against Wells (0-2), throwing down nine kills to go with eight digs. Junior
Omarf Ortega-Reyes added eight kills, 14 assists, and seven digs while sophomore
Huriel Perez distributed 12 assists. Senior
Furat Alhayek contributed three blocks.
Sophomore
Jacob Sledz was Drew's top performer versus Russell Sage (2-3), smashing 11 kills while scooping eight digs. Smith hammered another eight kills, Ortega-Reyes notched 15 assists, seven digs, and three blocks, and Perez dished out nine assists.
Two days after tying a school record with 15 aces, the Rangers served up 13 versus the Gators, with Sledz, Smith, and freshman
Jason Barbosa firing three apiece.
Drew returns to play on Friday, when it hosts Saint Joseph's-Long Island at 7 p.m.
