Women’s Basketball Rolls by Juniata

MADISON, N.J. – Thirteen different Rangers found the scoring column and the Drew University women's basketball team rolled to an 89-32 victory over Juniata College in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon in Baldwin Gym.
 
The Rangers (15-4, 5-3 LC) took control early on with a 22-0 run that spanned the first and second quarters. Drew led 21-5 at the end of the first quarter and 45-15 at the half.
 
Drew shot a sizzling 51.5% from the field and converted 78.9% (15-19) of its free throws. The Rangers forced 31 turnovers, which they turned into 39 points.
 
Senior guard Joey Meyers led the Rangers with 19 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals in 24 minutes of action. Senior guard Gwen Alberici added 12 points, six assists, and four steals while freshman guard Maddie Beyer (11 points, four steals) and senior guard Kyra Mann (10 points) each scored in double figures coming off the bench. Freshman guard Madelyn Morgan notched nine points and six rebounds, and junior forward Sam Antin swiped four steals in five minutes of action.
 
Haily Sherman netted 10 points and six rebounds for Juniata (6-13, 1-7 LC).
 
Drew led just 9-5 midway through the opening quarter before ending the period on a 12-0 run. They continued to pull away by scoring the first 10 points of the second quarter, opening up a 31-5 gap with 7:27 on the clock. Juniata pulled to within 19 midway through the stanza, but the Rangers closed the half on a 12-1 surge to assume their 30-point halftime advantage.
 
The hosts stayed hot in the third quarter, shooting 61.1% (11-18) to extend their lead to 69-26 heading into the final period. Seven different Rangers scored in the fourth quarter as all 14 players who dressed played at least five minutes in the game.
 
Drew continues its schedule on Wednesday, when it visits Moravian University at 7 p.m. in another Landmark Conference match-up.
