MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University field hockey team erupted for three goals in the third quarter, breaking open a scoreless tie en route to a 4-1 non-conference victory over Delaware Valley University on Tuesday in Ranger Stadium.

Maxine Lloyd scored a pair of goals for the Rangers (5-6) while graduate student
Alexa Thomas dished out three assists – just one shy of the school record. Junior
Tyler Olivio contributed one goal and one assist while senior
Emma Bryer also scored a goal for Drew, which outshot the Aggies 17-8.
Drew controlled possession in the opening half, when it held an 8-3 shot advantage. Both Delaware Valley saved both of the Rangers' shot on goal and it was a scoreless game after 30 minutes of play.
It didn't take long for the Blue and Green to get hot in the second half, as Olivio sent a shot through the 5-hole off a pass from Thomas to make it 1-0.
It remained a one-goal game until the Rangers struck twice over a 1:22 span late in the third quarter. Thomas delivered a pass from the top of the circle to Lloyd on the left wing, and she slotted a shot inside the far post. Then with 3:22 left in the third quarter, Olivio delivered a nice cross from the right side to Bryer, who one-timed it in from the left post to make it a 3-0 game heading into the final period.
Lloyd capped Drew's scoring for the day three minutes into the final quarter, sending a high-arching shot over the keeper and into the cage following a pass from Thomas for her fifth goal of the season.
Delaware Valley (3-6) broke up the shutout with 8:15 left when Kaylee Hartung rebounded in a shot.
Senior
Olyvia Jackson played the opening three quarters and turned aside one shot before freshman
Beth Kelly played the final period. Making her collegiate debut, she made the first two saves of her career.
The Rangers return to Landmark Conference action on Saturday, when they host Catholic University at noon.
