MADISON, N.J. – Senior guard
Joey Meyers scored a game-high 27 points and the Drew University women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a 69-61 victory over Goucher College in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon in Baldwin Gym.

Drew's four seniors – Meyers,
Gwen Alberici,
Kyra Mann, and
Katrina Wojtowicz – were honored in a brief ceremony before the start of the game. Alberici contributed 14 points, four assists, and four steals while Mann and Wojtowicz chipped in with 10 and seven points, respectively.

The Rangers (16-7, 6-6 LC) led 42-34 heading into the fourth quarter before shooting 86.7% (13-for-15) at the foul line in the final stanza, when the two sides each poured in 27 points.

Meyers also grabbed nine rebounds and handed out four assists while making 8-of-8 free throws en route to her third straight 20-point game.

Brenna Hezel blocked four shots for Drew, which has now tied the 2021-22 and the 2003-04 squads for the second-most wins in team history.

Alayna McFadden paced Goucher (3-20, 0-12 LC) with 16 points.

The Rangers never trailed after scoring the first six points of the game before pushing their advantage to 12-3, as Alberici and Meyers scored six points apiece during the stretch. The Gophers answered with a 6-2 spurt and Drew led 16-11 at the end of the first quarter.

Goucher trailed just 20-15 with 3:45 left in the opening half, but that's when the Rangers caught a spark and ended the period on a 9-0 surge to assume a 29-15 halftime advantage.

Drew led by as much as 15 on two occasions in the second half, the last coming on a lay-up from Alberici that made it 35-20 with 5:17 left in the third quarter. But the Gophers scored the last five points of the period to cut the deficit to eight going into the final period.

The Rangers were in command for most of the final quarter before Goucher used a late 8-2 surge to make it a 62-57 game with 49 seconds left following a 3-pointer from Kyla Smith. But that's when Drew put the game away at the foul line, where it went 7-for-8 inside the final 35 seconds.

Drew kicks off the final week of the regular season on Wednesday, when it hosts 20th-ranked Elizabethtown College at 7 p.m. in another Landmark Conference matchup.
