CSC Academic All-District Women's Basketball Teams
MADISON, N.J. – Three members of the Drew University women's basketball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District II Women's Basketball Team.
Earning a spot on the team were seniors
Joey Meyers and
Kyra Mann and sophomore
Izzy Lalo. The trio helped the Rangers finish the season with a 17-9 record, marking the second-highest victory total in team history.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
To be nominated for the CSC Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve who has appeared in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
A business major and environmental studies minor, Meyers captured Academic All-District honors for the third year in a row. She is coming off an outstanding senior year in which she led the Rangers in scoring (18.9 ppg) and rebounding (8.4 rpg) while finishing second in assists (3.2 apg) and steals (2.3 spg). Among the Landmark Conference leaders, she currently ranks second in scoring, third in rebounding, third in steals, and sixth in assists. For her career, she finished ranked among the top-10 in school history in numerous categories, including scoring (tied for sixth, 1,363 points), rebounds (seventh, 691), and steals (tied for eighth, 189).
Mann, a psychology major, played in 24 games and made three starts as a guard this past season. She scored a season-high 11 points in a win over Medgar Evers, and she also netted 10 points in victories over Juniata and Goucher. She finished with totals of 80 points, 42 rebounds, 18 assists, 17 steals, and three blocked shots.
A public health major and psychology minor, Lalo appeared in 18 contests for Drew throughout the year. She scored a season-high eight points in a win over Raritan Valley, and she handed out seven assists in the victory over Medgar Evers. For the season, Lalo accumulated 33 points, 20 assists, nine rebounds, and three steals.
